What Is Truth?

In John 18:37-38, during the trials of Jesus, He told Pilate, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."

"What is truth?" Pilate asked.

This is a question we still ask today. It is especially true during an election year. Candidates are making promises and criticizing their opponents. All news sources have a slant or bias about what they report. Social media is filtering content. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making it more difficult in telling what is real and what is fake. Science is often slanted by how research and testing is performed. The school system even has administrations and teachers with their own agendas. Even pulpits have differing gospels.

Does the truth even exist anymore?

There is an old joke, "How can you tell when a politician is lying?" Answer, "Their lips are moving."

Everything and everyone claim to be telling the truth. Who can we believe?

Everyone has picked their source of truth, whether it be a person, an organization, or news source. Until we discover a lie, then we find another source. But there is a source of truth that has stood the test of time and has not faltered for centuries. That is the Bible, God's Word.

Pilate did not know what to do with Jesus. Could he believe the Jewish leaders? How about his wife's dream. In his short encounter with Jesus, he could tell Jesus was unusual and not deserving death.

There are many who say you cannot believe the Bible, but what is their truth. Do they have a source that is stable? I think not.

Before believing someone's truth, go to the source of all truth, the Bible, and verify it.

Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:31-32)
